Shoes for Haiti

Rebecca Wellinger, of Carnegie packs up several boxes containing 1,627 pairs of shoes to ship to Haiti. Wellinger wanted to help out in Haiti any way possible. She stumbled across Tennessee based Soles4Souls online and will be shipping the boxes to the charity.

In 4th grade she liked meal worms, going to Heinz Hall, planning a trip to Harrisburg, and playing the flute.


Butch Adams class of 1966 drives from New York after his flight was cancelled, talks with Joan O'Brien of the School Board who helped save Perrysville Elementary School in 1982.


Teresa Fusca, 78, of Squirrel Hill, takes a picture of her best friend Jean (Sheppard) Schueler, 78, of West View who she met at Perrysville Elementary School. Schueler says, "We are Friends For Life." The pair attended the school from 1937-1942.

Collier, PA

Tim Scully, 48, of Collier, PA is rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland after being tased by police and falling down a cliff. Scully attacked Sgt. Brian Halbleib with a large branch which prompted the retaliation. Sgt. Halbeib was responding to a suicide attempt.

5,000 Can Milestone

Dakota Chirdon, 14, of Ross Township has been collecting cans with the Boy Scouts of American for 8 years, every year collecting more than the last. Chirdon carries some donated canned goods from a residence on Balmoral Drive in McCandless as he approaches his 5,000th can.
